Fihrist is a console library and bibliographic reference manager, aimed at speed and consistency.

• Fast, keyboard-driven interface, using Emacs-style keybindings.
• Export of metadata in various formats, both through the user interface and via the command line (for easy use in build scripts).
• Object-oriented approach, where each bibliographic item is an object that may be contained in other objects. Several chapter objects may be contained in the same conference proceedings object. When citations of these chapter are exported for use in a document, consistency in (for example) abbreviations of editors’ names is ensured, since these are all attributes of the same proceedings object.
• Ability to scan a directory for files not yet added to the catalog, with intelligent detection of those that have moved.
